Rupert Overbury
Woodturner

Please visit my Instagram page to see my latest work. Some may be for sale and, if not, similar styled pieces can be made to order.

All the wood I turn is organically sourced in Suffolk, from local landowners, tree surgeons and my own garden. My aim is to bring new life to what might end up as firewood, or left to rot, and produce unique, functional and artistic pieces that will last lifetimes.

I turn bowls, hollow forms, bud vases and boxes as well as other challenging, unusual and artistic pieces.

My speciality is turning thin live edge bowls, some of which I have recently converted into unique lampshades, in collaboration with a top interior designer (see www.tamasineosher.com and “Grain” lampshades)

I process most of the wood twice; rough turning green wood before reducing its moisture content to a safe and usable level in my specialist kiln. The piece is then turned a second time, ensuring the moisture content is compatible with modern house temperatures and humidity, before being finished with my home made, food safe mixture of beeswax and mineral oil.

I turn commission pieces, either of my own design and wood, or using wood sourced by a client to their specific preference.

You can view more of the woodturning process and my latest pieces on my Instagram page @turningoakwood.

I have a substantial stock of Oak, Ash, Beech, Sycamore, Field Maple and Boxwood and if there was something you would like to have made from a particular piece of wood, please call or email me to discuss further.

All pieces are available for collection from my workshop in Suffolk, or can be delivered by courier at a small extra charge.
